What is Horizon Scanning?

The identification of emerging technologies (Article 22) is called Horizon Scanning (HS).

Often, new health technologies offer significant value to patients, but this value can be reduced if the health system is not prepared to accommodate changes in how diseases are diagnosed, treated, and managed. To ensure preparedness for new developments, Horizon Scanning is a process that involves monitoring and assessing emerging and future health technologies to understand their potential impact on healthcare systems, patient outcomes, and the overall healthcare landscape.
