Introduction to procurement process

Procurement is the process of agreeing to the terms to acquire services and goods from an external source, often through a competitive bidding process. Around 70% of medical technologies are purchased through procurement. This process can be public or private [1].

Public procurement accounts for 14% of EU GDP [2]. Public procurement process can be used to support digital health developers across Europe. The following sections explain the different procurement methods and how these methods can be used to support the acquisition of innovative digital health solutions.
