FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is EUPATI? EUPATI is the European Patients' Academy on Therapeutic Innovation. It's a unique training provider specialized in patient education that offers different training courses and education materials. EUPATI is committed to changing the face of patient engagement through patient education. For more information about EUPATI, please visit here.
What is EUPATI Open Classroom? EUPATI Open Classroom is a flexible and on-demand e-learning platform providing courses in medicines research and development (R&D), where learners can take the courses online at their own pace and preferred order.
Can participants select some of the courses or do they need to take the full programme? EUPATI Open Classroom offers a personalised learning pathway, and all participants have three alternatives:
- Acquire in-depth-knowledge in a selection of topics in medicines R&D (pick and complete individual courses)
- Choose a module and complete all courses within it
- Become a EUPATI Fellow by completing the full Patient Expert Training Programme (complete all required online courses and attend two additional training events)
It is always possible to change the learning pathway and adjust it to the leaner’s needs.
How is the training content produced by EUPATI? EUPATI stands for quality, ensuring transparency, accessibility and factual accuracy. The expertise and insights from EUPATI sustaining partners, network members and external advisors are supported by qualitative and quantitative research as well as a systematic literature review conducted by EUPATI prior to content production. EUPATI has also established an independent advisory board. For more information about our content production process, please click here.
EUPATI and its training content intends to be generic and applicable in all different national settings. Meanwhile, our expertise lays in the European context and many of the case studies and examples in the material are from different European countries (by ‘European’ we refer to the larger region of Europe, not exclusively EU). Additionally, we provide some references to other world regions, where possible.
What learning modules are available? Currently, 8 modules containing 32 courses are available at EUPATI Open Classroom:
- Getting Started – 1 course
- Introductions to Medicines R&D – 6 courses
- Non-Clinical Development - 3 courses
- Clinical Development – 7 courses
- Health Technology Assessment (HTA) – 5 courses
- Regulatory Affairs – 5 courses
- Medical devices – 4 courses
- Digital Health – 5 courses
Do I have to follow a linear learning pathway? No, this is not necessary. The format of this platform is flexible, and you can select courses according to your needs and motivation. The topics are organised following the various steps of medicines development, and you can start at the beginning or create your own learning pathway.
How can I structure my learning on the EUPATI Open Classroom? The programme allows learners to take the courses online on-demand at their own pace and preferred order. However, we advise you to look at the Patient Engagement Roadmap - a process model that provides guidance for patient involvement in the different areas of the medicines R&D process, and Learning Catalogue to match your learning interests and needs.
What if I am interested to take all the courses available on the Open Classroom? In this case we encourage you to consider participating in EUPATI Patient Expert Programme (EUPATI Fellow Programme). The EUPATI Fellow title certifies the knowledge gained and gives graduates the opportunity to be recognised as expert patients. For more information, please refer to EUPATI Patient Expert Training Programme information.
What is the difference between a guest and a learner?
Guest: is a not registered user. A guest can navigate through the platform, explore the learning catalogue and access the content of all courses. However, a guest will not have the option to enrol in the courses and therefore will not be able to do the assessment and earn courses certificates.
Learner: is a registered user, who has created an account and logged in onto the platform. A learner will have the option to enrol in any course, pay the fee and therefore unlock the assessment functionality and earn course certificates. A registered user has also access to a personalised dashboard and can see the learning progress at a glance. The learner will also have the opportunity to become a EUPATI Fellow by completing the full programme.
Why is it important to click on 'Enrol & Access the Assessment' button? Being enrolled in a course means you register for the course. You can keep track of your learning progress and see how you move forward within each course. It is also the only way to unlock the assessment for the course.
Is it possible to cancel my enrolment after I have registered? Yes, this is possible if you have not yet finalized the assessment. If you wish to do this, please contact us at email@example.com.
Is it possible to postpone my enrolment after I have registered? How long can I postpone my enrolment for? For the moment, there is no time limit for completing the course, so any ‘postponement’ is not necessary.
What is an assessment? It is an evaluation to test the knowledge gained after finalising the learning materials of the course. The assessment of each course has 10 questions. To pass the test, the learner must correctly answer a minimum of 7 out of 10 questions.
How much is the fee to unlock an assessment? The fee to unlock an assessment for a course is EUR 8 (incl. VAT). This applies for all courses available on the platform.
What is Stripe? Stripe is a payment processing platform. It allows the user to pay the course fee. The platform accepts MasterCard, Visa and American Express.
Am I eligible for discounts? EUPATI is still working on discounts, and if you have any queries on this matter, we advise you to contact us via email firstname.lastname@example.org or by clicking on the 'Help' button at the bottom right of your screen.
How do I get a course certificate? After the learner successfully passes a course assessment, they will receive a course certificate via email. Also, the certificate can be downloaded from the platform at any time. N.B. It is important to enter the correct name and last name in the profile section of the platform at the moment of the registration as the certificate will be generated using the available information.
When is a course completed? The course is completed when the learner:
- Has paid the fee to unlock the assessment
- Earns a passing score for the assessment
- Receives the certificate
After the steps above are taken, the course will be marked as completed in the platform.
How can I share a course certificate on LinkedIn? The option to share the course certificate on LinkedIn is available in the section My certificates. This certificate already has a credential ID. We recommend deleting the credential URL when sharing on LinkedIn. We advise to use this method to share the course certificates and not to upload photos of the certificates to the social network.
What is a badge? A badge is a recognition of the knowledge gained. For each fully completed module you will earn a new badge.
How can I share a badge on LinkedIn? Please refer to this link to found out the way to publish your badge on LinkedIn
