        European Patients' Academy on Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI)

        The European Patients’ Academy on Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI) is a multi-stakeholder public-private partnership established as an independent non-profit Foundation in the Netherlands.

        EUPATI provides education and training to increase the capacity and capability of patients and patient representatives to understand and meaningfully contribute to medicines research and development (R&D), and to improve the availability of medical information for patients and other stakeholders.

        EUPATI learning approach

        The objective of EUPATI is to provide appropriate academic and rigorous training, yet presented in a way that enables concrete and applicable learning outcomes for the patient community, leading to measurable impact in medicines development.

        EUPATI Open Classroom uses the following learning strategies to effectively deliver educational content to trainees in a digital environment:

        Asynchronous Learning

        Access materials anytime, allowing self-paced study through videos and readings.

        Microlearning

        Breaks complex topics into bite-sized lessons for better retention.

        Gamification

        Learners earn badges for achievements, enhancing motivation and engagement.

        Self-Assessment

        Includes quizzes for instant feedback to track understanding and progress.

        Multimedia Integration

        Uses videos and infographics to cater to different learning styles.

        Real-World Application

        Incorporates case studies to demonstrate practical application of knowledge.

        Accessibility & Inclusion

        Content is designed to be accessible for all learners, including those with disabilities.

        Who creates our content? 

        EUPATI stands for quality, ensuring transparency, accessibility and factual accuracy. All educational content is developed with a consistent multi-stakeholder approach. The expertise and insights from al EUPATI partners, network members and external advisors are supported by qualitative and quantitative research as well as a systematic literature review conducted by EUPATI prior to content production. EUPATI has also established an independent Editorial Board.

        EUPATI Open Classroom  was supported by the EUPATI Reload project, funded by EIT Health (EIT Health is supported by EIT, a body of the European Union) and made possible together great partners – Bayer, University of Copenhagen, University of Oxford and Medtronic.
